Seas and oceans are an immense source of wealth and well-being. Blue Growth is the long term strategy to support sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sectors as a whole. It recognises that seas and oceans are drivers for the European economy with great potential for innovation and growth. 

Its approach is targeted towards specific activities: aquaculture, coastal tourism, marine biotechnology, ocean energy and seabed mining.

Spanish Maritime Cluster encouraged the maritime innovation

On February 3, 2014, Spanish Maritime Cluster (CME) organized the Roundtable: “COSME and SME instruments: An opportunity for the innovation in the maritime sector” at CDTI facilities with the participation of the representatives from the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The Seminar aimed to analyze the new opportunities to the maritime sector in the EU research Programme Horizon 2020 and COSME programme focusing on the new SME instrument.

The CME Chairman Mr. Federico Esteve highlighted the importance of the innovation as a key factor of driving the add value on the maritime SME´s and enhanced to the attendants for applying the instruments which are offered by the Horizon 2020 and COSME programme.
